Richards Bay high School has been officialy selected as the winning relay team of Fish Eagle 1000m for 2017!!

Sister and brother - Wyllona is the fastest girls swimmer and William the fastest boys swimmer. Well done!!



Johann Fourie

Johann Fourie's recent (club) achievements:

  • SA Schools
    • Bronze: 100 and 200m Backstroke; 4 x 100m relay
    • Silver: 4 x 100m relay
  • SA Junior National Championships
    • 8th: 100, 200m backstroke u/16
  • SA Seniors
    • 22nd: Open category (u/20/21’s)
  • Captain: KZN-team!

Richards Bay High School swimmers ended the season on a high note! At the Interschools at which seven Zululand schools took part, we attained a well-earned 2nd place!

Ethan Bender, u/14 Boys, was awarded Victor Natationis and Melri van Schoor, u/14 Girls, Victrix Natationis.

Thank you to every Baaitjie-swimmer who gave of his/her best this season and helped us to be proud Baaitjies.

To every parent who faithfully supported and gave encouragement at the pool-side - thank you! You are the reason for your child's success. See you again in the fourth term.

The Matrics, in particular Frans and Bonita, our Captains – we will miss you!! Thank you for your perseverance.


Inter House Gala

The results of the Inter House Gala are as follows:

  • 3d: Flaminke 176
  • 2nd: Albatrosse 232
  • 1st: Visarende 329

The "Geesbeker" goes to the Flaminke.

New records:

  • 6 x 50m Age Relay Girls: Visarende
  • 4 x 50m Medley Relay Girls u/14: Visarende
  • 4 x 50m Medley Relay Girls u/16: Visarende

Ethan Bender and Melri van Schoor are the Junior Victor Natationis and the Junior Victrix Natationis respectively.

Frans Roodt and Bonita Roos are the Swimming Captains for 2017.

Johann Fourie and Bonita Roos are the Senior Victor Natationis and Senior Victrix Natationis respectively. Johann Fourie reached his own record of 2016.


All Night Swim

From Saturday evening 21 January at 18:00 to Sunday morning 06:00 twenty of Richards Bay High School's swimmers and Matrics took part in the annual Felixton All Night Swimming.

Team 1 bettered the record by swimming 56 100 km. Team 2 “Verdrink en Sinkspan” swam 37 km – outstanding for non-swimmers.

JD Faurie, Johann Fourie, Johandre du Plessis and Ruané Jordaan have been selected for the UThungulu swimming team to take part in the Natal trials. (William Paxton was absent when the photo was taken.) Congatulations, we are proud of you!!

Richards Bay High School's "vasbyters". They took part in the 1 000m Fish Eagles swim and completed within the requisite 40 minutes.

On Friday 19 February 2016 Bonita Roos and Frans Roodt (Riaan Ehlers was absent when the photo was taken) took part in the St Catherine's, Polio-Campaign Swim for Richards Bay High School's first team. They won the High School section.

They swam 32 lengths of 50m in 25 minutes. Well done! We are proud of you!

All Night Swim

We took part for the fifth time in the Felixton All Night Swim and walked (swam?) away with the winner's trophy after swimming for 12 hours.

Divan Meintjes, Bianca van der Westhuizen, Klara Dreyer and Carma Jacobs made the outstanding achievement of taking part in all five events from gr.8 to 12

The Baaitjies Team comprising Divan Meintjes, Bianca van der Westhuizen, Carma Jacobs, Gerard van der Vlies, Klara Dreyer, Nicole Venter, Alicia Kotze, Ettiene Jonck, Frans Roodt and Bonita Roos swam a distance of 49.3 km!!
